Historic Background
The concept of constructing Children Hospital for children of Afghan refugees was singed in early 80s between Govt. of Pakistan & Govt. of Germany. By the time this concept was materialized Afghan refugees had gone back. Under these circumstances, Govt. of Balochistan, in consultation with Govt. of Pakistan & German authorities, decided to construct this hospital in Quetta City for the children of Balochistan.

The cost breakdown of the project was Rs.740 (Million), share of Federal Republic of Germany was 73% & Govt. of Balochistan 27%. The German Govt. approved financing of the project through their official Bank KfW. Contract was awarded to M/s SIEMENS - GERMANY on turn key basis.

Environmental Assessment
Children Hospital Quetta was conceived with an idea that the prevailing health care facilities are unable to cope with the number of patients. Medical services are particularly poor for persons under 16 years of age, which represent 48.5% of the total population of Balochistan. The present health care facilities did not cater the need of this province.

As a primary level health institution Children Hospital serves the entire population of Quetta & as a reference level institution, the hospital has to serve the entire population of the province and we have attained this status within shortest possible time.
